Expectations & Procedures

NNMC faculty interested in teaching online or developing classes in the online environment are expected to be both credentialed and have their courses go through an approval process.

  1. Review detailed expectations for credentialing and approval processes (see links below for complete details).
  2. Apply to become credentialed to teach online courses at NNMC. (Note: you must be credentialed to teach prior to having courses approved).
  3. Obtain permission from your Director or Chair to develop an online course. If approved, the Director or Chair will request a Blackboard shell for your course.
  4. Begin course development utilizing the course template. It is recommended 25% (at minimum) of the course will need to be developed prior to review. Also, complete a self-evaluation of your developed course using the Quality Matters™ (QM) standards.
  5.  Your Director or Chair will submit a formal application for the course and self-evaluation to be reviewed.
  6. If your course meets 85% or more QM standards, it will be approved and you can finish course development. If not, the review committee will recommend changes and you can resubmit for consideration within 2 weeks.
