An Examination of Substance Use Disorder and Treatment Outcomes

Presenter: Meghan Trujillo

Poster Description: In Northern New Mexico, there has been a significant increase of substance use disorder and addiction over the years. As a result, foster homes are flooded, arrest rates have flourished, and death due over dose has increased. As a consequence, state and government entities have had to take action and are busier than ever. In more recent years, diversion programs have been established to attempt and differ individuals with criminal drug-related behavior and crimes to treatments, and community incorporated services rather than incarceration. However, the population in Northern New Mexico has suffered integrational trauma, substance use disorders, and lives of limited opportunity due to limited resources and criminal backgrounds. As a result, substance use disorder is common socioculture in Northern New Mexico along with the other rich beauties and cultural diversity.

Key Words: Substance Use Disorders (SUDs), treatment, intergenerational, social, epidemic, and ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences).
