NNMC Library General Electronic Content & Licensing Restrictions

Permitted Use

Commonly permitted use of electronic resources include:

  • Authorized users may print or electronically save a single copy or limited portions of electronic resource content for individual use, and for non-commercial, educational, or research purposes.
  • Authorized users may print, quote, email, or share limited amounts of content (with proper attribution) with others affiliated with NNMC for collaborative research/scholarship, classroom instruction, and coursework.
  • In general, it is preferable to use persistent links to electronic resources rather than to download and store articles on servers or content management systems. Authorized users can create permalinks to journals, individual articles, or other subscription materials for placement in the learning management system.

Prohibited Use

Commonly prohibited use of electronic resources include:

  • Users may not modify or create derivative works; remove, obscure, or modify copyright or other notices; or use the work for commercial purposes.
  • Users may not systematically download, distribute, or retain substantial portions of information (including scripts, agents, or robots).
  • Users may not distribute copies of material to individuals or groups outside the NNMC community unless the license for a specific resource allows for it. This includes posting licensed content to a public website or redistributing to individuals or corporations not affiliated with NNMC.
