Take Good Notes

When you conduct research or draft a project be sure to:

  • Distinguish direct quotations from your own summary or paraphrase. 
  • Identify the source you are taking notes from. Use a consistent system for notes taking.
  • Label print outs or documents that you have—always know the original source.
  • Email article citations to yourself from library databases—some will even email in different citation styles!
