Tips to Succeed in Online Courses

Succeed in Your Online Courses

  1. Confirm Technical Requirements: Before your course starts be sure you have access to a computer that will work with Blackboard courses. Also, make sure you know how to navigate a course so that you don't have to spend time during the course trying to figure out the technology. See technical requirements or visit with an Eagle Tech.
  2. Connect with your Instructor(s) Early: Instructors will post their contact information in the course of the syllabus. Instructors are available to help throughout the courses.
  3. Create a Schedule: Plan to dedicate two-to-three hour time blocks to log in and complete assignments. Some instructors will create courses that are easy to navigate and have clear expectations.
  4. Stay Organized: Keep assignment due dates in a calendar, and create online or paper folders for each week.
  5. Have a Consistent Workspace: You need a place to study or complete assignments, whether that's at a coffee shop, the school library, or at home. Choose to study and complete assignments, make it a consistent location, and ensure it is free of outside interference.
